I utilize mostly CBT techniques as I believe that negative thoughts and beliefs are underlying for a lot of maladaptive behaviors, within individuals as well as couples. A lot of times our brains make assumptions using past experiences or false truths which believe are true and this allows us to struggle with how to navigate. In session my style is soft but direct and I utilize humor and different engagement tactics to make clients feel comfortable and at ease.

I wish that everyone knew that therapy can be anything anyone wants it to be. It is not just a service for mental health terms or fancy language- it is for everyone that has experienced any hardship in their life that leaves them feeling stuck or different. These are things that everyone should explore in therapy.

Being able to laugh with clients in session. It provides a lightheartedness and an engagement that allows us to move forward due to the connection and trust in the room.

I encourage them to find something they enjoy doing and ground in that. A hobby, routine, activity- it can be anything! Then finding ways to do the thing they enjoy doing in the city allows them to meet like minded peers and partake in self care at the same time.

I go to the park a lot with my dog to read, take a walk, or watch people playing tennis! I find it very calming and soothing to sit still sometimes in a city that never does.
